There’s plenty of keyword research tools on the web, some of them are listed here. There are free and paid options. If you are a beginner and don’t have too many pages on your website, free options are for you. If you are an experienced webmaster or SEO expert, I am sure you won’t be paying for any of that either:)

Wordtracker – a database of over 330 million search phrases that is updated weekly. It provides the daily stats of a searched keyword as well as up to 100 related keywords. There’s a free as well as a paid version of this tool.

Google Adwords Keyword Toolis most valuable if you use PPC advertising on Google to promote your website or catalogue of products. Otherwise it would be best to use Wordtracker.

Yahoo! Small Business – also a good tool for Yahoo PPC campaigns.

Microsoft AdCenter Ad Labs Tools - a keyword research tool designed for Microsoft’s search engine. It offers some useful tools, however they are meant for an experienced audience.

Google Suggest - when you type keywords into the Google search box you may notice a drop down bar that offers keyword suggestions in real time while you’re still typing as well the number of websites in Google’s index containing the same words. Good to see the number of competitors before choosing your words.

Keyword Discovery – collects search phrases from 220 search engines, their database contains over 36 billion searches. It’s a good alternative to Wordtracker. The tool is free, however offers a paid option, which is more advanced.
