14 September 2008 128 views No Comment

Keywords or phrases are used by the Internet users to find useful websites. When a person enters a search query into a Search Engine (like Google, Yahoo, etc) they expect to be shown relevant results relating exactly to the keywords that were entered. A relevant keyword is a word or group of words that can singularly describe the topic or contents of your web site or page as accurate as possible.

RQs should be able to tell your visitors what your site is all about in general. Having relevant keywords and phrases is by far the most important attribute of website content. Search engines always look for words and phrases that can be read, indexed, and crawled on for specific topic and documents worthy to be indexed and ranked. It is therefore important to use the most appropriate keywords and phrases to increase site ranking and traffic. Incorporating relevant keywords and phrases in a web site is the key to having a successful campaign, increasing the volume of traffic and a favorable page ranking on the search engines. Without it the content of your site may be misinterpreted by the Search Engine Bots.

By including the right words into the title you are increasing your chances of being identified and indexed. Other strategic locations would be using keywords in the first paragraph of the page, directory, URL, domain name of the website, Meta tags.

Before using certain keywords you should do some research first. If your site is new and a number of competitors for a particular keyword is very high you might want to consider using different words.
