Microsoft Adcenter Sucks!

3 November 2008 130 views One Comment

Recently I’ve tried Microsoft Adcenter PPC advertising. Honestly speaking I don’t ever use MSN Live Search as to me Google is the god of search; however I was hoping that some of my potential customers did use it and any additional visitor is beneficial for my site as I only use very targeted ads with high conversion rates. My hosting provider gave me a free $50 coupon and so I decided to give it a shot.

I created an ad copy and selected the most competitive words from my AdWords campaign. It’s been 4 days now and although my ads got couple hundred impressions, I still haven’t gotten a single click from MSN. Now I’d reconcile that if I was a total immature in search marketing, however it is not so. I am a certified Google advertising professional and work with G’s contextual advertising full time managing multiple accounts in our company’s MCC.

So I just don’t understand it. Is MSN completely dead? Or I am the only one having this kind of trouble? Perhaps Microsoft Adcenter is so advanced that I have to attend an additional lecture course to understand how to get clicks and conversions from it?

According to this article the Search Share of MSN is around 5%. So I figure If my ads get thousands of impressions on Google (which has 71% SS) and hundreds of clicks, I should be getting at least some visitors from Live Search as well?

However now it seams to me that the free advertising bucks will never be spent.

Thanks for the heads up, we’re thinking of promoting our business with microsoft adcenter aside from our Google campaign, thinking that it’s a bit cheaper compared to adwords (with our preferred keywords), but with you telling this, I think we have to stay away with the idea.
