Got Splogged?

25 January 2009 99 views No Comment

If you are a blogger and have recently used CopyScape.com to find out that someone else is using your content, it would be a wise thing to also run a test whether that site is a scraper or not.

In order to do that you may run a brief test on SpamHuh.com. This will take less than a minute, and you will have an idea as to what kind of site you’re dealing with before filing a complaint to DMCA. SpamHuh is a prototype to identify neatly made splogs that was created by the highly potential uClassify team from Stockholm, Sweden.

Right now the program may seem a bit primitive, but it does what it is meant to do well enough. We decided to run a brief test of i-Trepreneur.com and were not disappointed:)

We also ran a quick test of a popular blog Business-Opportunities.biz:

When you look at this blog you may clearly see that the majority of content is coming from elsewhere (no offence, Dane Carlson). However the amount of borrowed content may not be high enough to mark the site as a splog.

What can I say to the aspiring entrepreneurs from Sweden: good luck with developing the classifiers and completing your spam detection tools!
